application forms. University of Mississippi scholarships are for any students interested in attending the university. Deadline for application is February 1. Students must be admitted to the university before they can apply for any scholarships. On line applications are available and they must be submitted prior to the February 1 deadline. The following is a list of additional scholarships available at the University of Mississippi.
Education Services Foundation, sponsor of College Access Planning Program and Delta Scholars Program, is offering a $1,000 scholarship. ESF is a Mississippi-based non-profit whose sole mission is "Making College Possible" for Mississippi students. Applications are due to ESF by February 20. Education is Freedom (EIF) is a new national 501(c)(3) public foundation that provides college scholarships to B-average students who qualify them for traditional scholarships. Scholarships range from $500-$5,000 to cover tuition, books and fees. Applications are being accepted January 1 - March 15. Students can get complete information, scholarship criteria and applications at . Flying J Scholarship Program is offering a $2,000 scholarship to outstanding students residing in the communities surrounding a Flying J Travel Plaza. Minimum grade point average is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent. Applications and transcripts must be postmarked no later than March 1. On-line transcripts and grade reports are not acceptable. The Institute of Community Services, Inc. is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a DeSoto County senior. The scholarship is for the first year of college or vocational training and will be awarded in two allotments of $500. Applications are due to ICS, Inc. no later than February 28. Memphis Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. is offering $1,000 scholarship to students who have a financial need and will be attending an accredited college in 2003. Students must successfully complete the college course(s) with a grade of "C" or better in order to be reimbursed by M.C.T.A.I. College Assistance Fund. Applications and transcripts must be postmarked no later than February 14. Mississippi High School Activities Association is offering the Lindy Callahan Scholar-Athlete Award. Sixteen, $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded during this school year, honoring a male and female scholar-athlete in each of the eight MHSAA districts. Applications must be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on February 21. Mississippi Municipal League (MML) is offering one $1,000 scholarship to any high school senior in Mississippi who plans to attend an accredited community or junior college, college, or university in Mississippi. A second $1,000 scholarship is restricted to the children or grandchildren of Mississippi municipal officials and employees. Entry deadline is Friday, April 8. Mississippi School of the Arts will open its doors to its first class of juniors in the fall of 2003. MSA located in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on the historic Whitworth College campus is a tuition-free school that will provide advanced programs of study in music, theatre, visual arts, dance, literary arts, and media arts for artistically gifted and talented Mississippi eleventh and twelfth grade students in a residential environment that promotes honor, integrity, service, and lifelong learning. Students who meet the criteria must apply during their sophomore year in high school to be admitted as juniors to MSA. The deadline for receipt of applications is February 14. Mississippi State University is offering two Stennis scholarships each spring to academically talented high school seniors who intend to major in political science and pursue a public service career. Scholars receive a $2,000 stipend a year, and benefit from funded trips to Washington, D.C. The deadline for receipt of applications is February 27. Sam Walton Community Scholarship information deadline is February 1. Applications are to be returned to the local Wal-Mart Store/SAM'S CLUB in a sealed 9x12 envelope.
